Tomasello Luis

Luis Tomasello nasce il 29 novembre 1915 a La Plata, Argentina, da genitori italiani. La sua formazione artistica, avviatasi nelle scuole di Buenos Aires e dall’iniziale impronta figurativa di vaga ispirazione cézanniana, riceve un impulso determinante entrando a contatto con le nuove espressioni artistiche europee scoperte a Parigi nel 1951, in occasione di un viaggio in Europa.
Tornato in Argentina, frequenta artisti d’avanguardia quali Emilio Pettoruti e Carmelo Arden Quin. Con quest’ultimo fonda a Buenos Aires il “Salon Arte Nuevo”. Le opere di questo periodo risentono del Cubismo e dell’Espressionismo, per rivolgersi poi all’Astrattismo Geometrico.
Nel 1957 Tomasello si stabilisce a Parigi, inserendosi in un gruppo di artisti quali Arp, Seuphor, Vasarely, Soto, Schöffer. Guarda a Mondrian e Malevič come a dei maestri e avvia le sue ricerche nel campo dell’arte cinetica bidimensionale. La sua opera si evolve quindi nella realizzazione delle tiges (poliedri di legno regolari applicati sulla superficie del quadro) e nell’intensificazione dello studio sulla luce e della tridimensionalità.
Risalgono al 1962 le prime personali al Museo di Belle Arti di Buenos Aires e alla storica Galerie Denise René di Parigi (punto di riferimento internazionale per la divulgazione dell’arte cinetica e costruita), tramite cui si accosta alle ricerche artistiche sviluppate da artisti quali Demarco, Cruz Diez, Le Parc, Tinguely.
Ne segue un lunghissimo elenco di esposizioni in tutto il mondo, cui si aggiungono importanti riconoscimenti e premi internazionali: risale al 1970 il 1er Grand Prix International alla «II Bienal de Arte Coltejer» di Medellín, Colombia; nel 1971 si aggiudica il 2° Prix International alla « VII° Biennale d’ Art», Menton; nel 1976 è Chevalier des art et des lettres a Parigi; nel 1998 vince il Prix de l’artiste de l’année , Museo Provincial de Bellas Artes Emilio Pettoruti, Buenos Aires ed è del 2008 il Grand Prix Homage del Banque Central de la Républica Argentina, Buenos Aires.
E’ autore insieme allo scrittore argentino Julio Cortázar di due libri-oggetto, composti di serigrafie e testi poetici.
Ha realizzato importanti integrazioni architettoniche in diversi Paesi (realizzazione dell’ambiente della Sala Conferenze_ Palazzo dei Congressi de la Porte Maillot, Parigi; realizzazione dell’ambiente della Sala Conferenze_ Sede della Società Renault, Boulogne-Billancurt; Atmosfera Cromoplastica di m 2.20x4.40 per il Municipio città di Askin, Norvegia; realizzazione dell’animazione di due pareti_Gendarmerie di Grenoble, Francia; realizzazione dell’ambiente del Grande Salone di Ricevimento_Ambasciata di Francia a Rabat, Marocco).

Luis Tomasello muore il 17 gennaio 2014 a Parigi.
